Roger blogs about Milo
and Max as they use Grandparent Games

Welcome to Grandparent Games!

Your grandchild is in Brooklyn. You are in Florida. You want to have a relationship with your grandchild. You want to interact. This site is for you.

A grandparent’s first thought is to teach his grandchild something. Saying “dog” in response to a picture of a dog is a start. Letters, numbers, learning to read, learning to count and add, learning to recognize and name objects in the world and learning just about anything a one, two, or three year old wants and needs to learn are possibilities in this new medium.

What You Need

You and your grandchild both need a computer, a fast internet connection, a webcam and a microphone or headset. (Some of these may be already in your computer.)

How It Works

We supply age-appropriate interactions to facilitate internet mediated play with your grandchild. All the interactions are really to help the grandparent talk with the grandchild about what is on the screen. For example, when the grandparent sends a “K” to the child the grandparent says what grandparents say when they are trying to teach – what letter is that? Is that an A? Is that a K? What sound does the K make? See the kite. The kite got stuck in the tree. Kkkite.

When the child says “K” or “kuh” the grandparent cheers. It is as simple as that. After that it is time to send your grandchild consonant vowel consonant clusters. _AT; what letter should we put in front? R? what does R sound like in front of _AT. Ah, there is a picture of a RAT. How about HAT?

We provide moving objects that a baby can laugh at and animated books composed of only three letter words that a grandparent can help the grandchild learn to read. We provide animated objects to count and add and multiply. The idea is to have fun and jump start your grandchild's education. Our interactions are designed specifically for kids 5 and younger.
